In the 2025-2026 season, all three middle school teams performed well enough a regional competitions to secure an invitation to the Kansas State Championship tournament in Wichita.
The Night Hawks triple qualified for worlds when they won the Kansas State Excellence in Robotics Award, the Teamwork Challenge Champion, AND Robot Skills Champion! The excellence award means that the Night Hawks scored in the top of their division across all four areas of the competition: Engineering Notebook, Team Interviews, Skills, and Alliance Matches! This award recognizes them as the top middle school robotics team in the state of Kansas, and guaranteed an invitation to the 2026 VEX World Championship.
The Phantom Hawks won the Sportsmanship Award and scored the second highest skills score in the state due to their coding/autonomous driving. Normally this is not a tournament qualifier. However, when the Night Hawks team triple qualified, it gave the team a chance to attend the 2026 VEX Robotics World Championship as well!
The Thunder Hawks won the coveted Design Award! While not a qualifier for worlds, this award is only given to the team with the best engineering notebook and interview skills. This required an incredible amount of discipline this year, as every week brought another round of the Identify-Brainstorm-Select-Build-and-Test Engineering Process.
Support the team by making a gift that helps the teams cover the cost of travel to St Louis, the $1800 registration fee, and their future in STEM. Thanks for your generosity!
